Anodizing

Anodizing natural colour

Anodizing gives aluminium a beautiful decorative surface with good corrosion and wear resistance, a hard surface and insulating properties.

In natural colour anodizing, the oxide layer is not coloured, leaving the product with a grey aluminium colour. Long-lasting and accurate markings can be made on the surface of the piece by laser marking, if desired.

Anodizing is an electrolytic surface modification process for aluminium products. The aluminium to be treated can be alloy, pure or die-cast. A layer of oxide is formed on the surface of the product using electric current and chemistry. Anodizing is done by rack coating method in automated line. The thickness of the coating can be measured with an eddy current meter.

Maximum size of the piece to be coated

  • maximum length 3000 mm
  • maximum width 450 mm
  • maximum height 1400 mm
  • maximum weight 100 kg

  • Standard

  • SFS-EN ISO 7599:2010
  • MIL-A-8625F

  • Hard anodizing natural colour

Hard anodizing is the process of forming a thicker oxide layer on the surface of a piece than with normal anodisation.

The layer thickness is about 50µm. Depending on the grade of aluminium and the desired layer thickness, the resulting surface is darker grey and more resistant to abrasion. The thickness of the coating can be measured with an eddy current meter.

Maximum size of the piece to be coated

  • maximum length 2600 mm
  • maximum width 350 mm
  • maximum height 900 mm
  • maximum weight 100 kg

  • Standard

    MIL-A-8625F

    Anodizing black

Anodizing gives aluminium a beautiful decorative surface with good corrosion and wear resistance, a hard surface and insulating properties. In black anodizing, the oxide layer is stained black.
